![]() ![]() The newly consolidated fire service is expected to be up and running by New Year’s Day. Hamilton Council voted Tuesday night to dissolve Hamilton’s nine autonomous fire districts in favor of a municipal fire department. The two-year FMBA labor contracts, obtained Wednesday by The Trentonian, make clear that Hamilton’s career firefighters will be accountable to the municipal government, not the soon-to-be abolished fire districts. The labor agreements between Hamilton Township and FMBA Locals 84 and 284 show current firefighters will receive healthy annual salaries and generous longevity pay in 20, a bargaining victory for the unions who had fought to maintain pre-dissolution benefits for their rank-and-file members. HAMILTON – Current firefighters will be well-compensated under Hamilton’s newly consolidated fire department, but the Mayor Jeff Martin administration still reserves the right to lay-off employees in accordance with applicable law. ![]()
